London Calling

 

          The United Kingdom is the home of fine taste and protocols, not to mention the fact that great designers like Alexander McQueen and Sarah Burton are from this country that has always had a great influence on fashion, while maintaining an unmatched neat aesthetic. The truth is that we can't talk about English fashion without mentioning the Burberry brand, which has been on the market for more than 150 years and has positioned itself as the "real brand" for gentlemen around the world.

          The Haymarket check pattern (red, white and black stripes forming frame on a cream base), the "trench" coat are known worldwide icons that make direct reference to which for years has been the home of everyday elegance. Taking advantage of a season filled with monochromatic, we decided to take inspiration from this British aesthetic and form our own interpretation of a timeless elegant outfit.

Winston: with a classier style than the ones used by the Londoners, whom walk the rainy streets of London, I decided to wear a suit with a subtle pattern and a cream based color. #TIP; The classic aesthetic of a gentlemen suit MUST always match the jacket and pants, these also pertains to the color and pattern. To complement my look, I opted for a high-neck sweater to give it a modern European air.

Roxana: I adapted the English modern aesthetic; Inspired by the uniforms that were used to go out to practice traditional fox hunting in the UK. The outfit consist of shorts with pattern, knee high boots, beige turtleneck sweater and a camel over coat. A final touch of red lipstick could never be left out...

          An interesting point about fashion, is the for us Glam + Dapper every style and outfit we wear tells a story. Together we can create a new ensemble after each post, it's like writing a book and each look is a page.

          El Reino Unido es la casa del buen gusto y el protocolo, sin mencionar que grandes diseñadores como Alexander Mcqueen y Sara Burton son oriundos de este país que siempre ha tenido gran influencia en la moda manteniendo una estética de pulcritud inigualable, lo cierto es que no podemos hablar de moda inglesa sin mencionar la marca  Burberry; la cual lleva más de 150 años en el mercado y que se ha posicionado como la “marca real” de todos los Caballeros del mundo.

          Su estampado haymarket check (rayas rojas, blancas y negras que forman cuadros sobre una base crema), el trench y la gabardina son iconos  conocidos a nivel mundial que hacen referencia directa a la que por años ha sido la casa de la elegancia diaria, aprovechando la temporada y la tendencia de outfits monocromáticos decidimos inspirarnos en esta estética para nuestro look of the day:

Winston: Con una línea más clásica de lo que es el caballero que recorre las lluviosas calles de Londres; decidí tomar un Suit a cuadros sutiles con fondo crema, en la estética clásica siempre, siempre el traje se lleva completo, debe ser uniforme en color y estampado, decidí agregar un sueter en cuello de tortuga que agrega un aire europeo moderno, perfecto para la temporada aparte de ser súper funcional en nuestro guardarropa.

Roxana: yo adapté la estética moderna inglesa; inspirándome en los uniformes que se utilizaban para salir a practicar la tradicional caza de zorros en Reino Unido. Short en suede, botas altas y gabardina inglesa me acompañan en tonalidades beige, el blanco se ve reflejado en mi top cuello de tortuga y un toque de rojo obligatorio en el labial.  

          Cada estilo y cada atuendo trae consigo una historia, una inspiración y esto es lo interesante de la moda y para nosotros lo curioso de juntos crear un nuevo relato tras cada entrega, es como escribir un libro y cada look es una página. Esperamos  lo hayan disfrutado tanto como nosotros.

NY State Of Mind

 

          New York, New York – the city the never sleeps, the big apple and the concrete jungle are some of the nicknames associated with the city of the world. Many say if you can make it here you can make it any where. In between these tall buildings, you can find famous boutiques shops, interesting tourists’ attractions and unique restaurants. But of course, we Glam + Dapper are Fashionistas – purveyors of taste, so it’s only right we mention New York Fashion Week (NYFW), the annual event the brings together fashionistas, bloggers and designers. During NYFW If you take a stroll around the streets of New York, you find many different/unique styles from locals and foreigners. This city has an influence in all of us, weather it’s by culture, architecture or it's vibe, we all take a bite from her and somehow in the process create our own distinct brand.

          Well, that was a short introduction for our inspiration of today’s looks. As seen in the photos we were partly influenced by dark hues and monochromatic aesthetics. The inspiration came about, after the realization the New Yorkers tend to wear essentially all dark/black attires during the winter months, these effectively trickles down from wall street suits to street style urban outfits. To that end, and with that notion in mind, we remained true to the essence of the city and developed our own monochromatic dark ensembles paying homage to New Yorkers and their city.

Rosanna: Here the prefer color was pink...just kidding I like black because it transmits the elegance a lady must always show. I opted for a leather pencil skirt (a must of the season), black tall boots, black turtleneck sweater, and to make a statement…an over the shoulder fur accessory to compliment the look. #trend alert, red lipstick is a must when wearing dark monochromatic looks especially in all black, it gives a touch of sexiness and glamour.

Tips for Ladies: if you decide to mix texture with accessories such as a hand bag, it’s suggested you go for a minimalist hairstyle.

Winston: Yes, all black everything, an interesting part about monochromatic looks is the men have more wiggle room and could take more chances than women. For instance, we wear a one color suit and even match it with a similar color tie…but enough with the Dapper in me…this look is about the essence of an all dark outfit casually elegant. In my outfit, I choose damask slim cut pants, black high neck sweater, velvet black dress slippers and an wool over coat with gold bottoms.

Tips for Gentlemen: if you have an old over coat or a blazer that you feel you have worn too many times, simply change the bottoms and it’ll give it new life.

          I couldn’t leave without saying a few more words, without any arrogance, I believe my style is classic and elegant, in other words oriented by British aesthetics, however, I must convey how New York fashion has influenced me and how menswear has evolved during the last decade. In between waves of proper gentleman attire “Dapper”, minimalist clothing and leisure sporty gear we can find comfort by mixing and matching different styles. The beauty of this city is the is has so many fashionable vibes, we can call it fashion’s modern pendulum swing.

          New York, New York la ciudad que nunca duerme casa de la gran manzana, de famosas boutiques y de interesantes puntos turísticos es la gran ciudad del mundo, y claro de la MODA aquí celebramos NYFW evento que anualmente es el punto de encuentro  de todos los fashionistas, bloggers y diseñadores, no tan solo esto sino que NY es una de las locaciones favoritas para descubrir y retratar el mejor Street Style del mundo, sabemos que el más famoso trend hunter; Bill C. Esta totalmente de acuerdo con nosotros.

          Pero bueno, eso era tan solo una breve introducción para hablar de nuestra inspiración de hoy, como ya abran notado nos inspiramos en el estilo neoyorkino  mezclándolo con nuestros estilos personales, la inspiración nos vino caminando y notamos algo curioso, que ya sabíamos pero hasta hoy notamos: TODOS aquí visten de negro, en esta gran ciudad encuentras todos los estilos  desde el más glam hasta el urbano pero algo puedes tener seguro el negro está presente en gran parte de su guardarropa y si hablamos de invierno pues aún más, tomamos notas de esto y al ver que los looks monocromáticos serán un #Must decidimos armar nuestro propio NYC look, aquí se lo dejamos:

Rosanna: Yo quería rosado... Es broma me encanta el negro, transmite esa elegancia que debe mostrar una lady, opté por una falda tubo en leather (Must de la temporada), botas altas y top básico cuello tortuga, pero obvio esto no acaba ahí encontré este accesorio en tela de peluche, el cual cariñosamente llamé “puffy” jaja, me pareció interesante por la textura que tiene y ojo chicas: es un #TrendAlert, labial rojo infaltable en un look monocromático, especialmente si es negro.

Tips: Recuerde si utilizan mezcla de textura y complementos llamativos es viable que se vayan por un peinado súper minimalista.

Winston: Yo sí quería mi “All Black look” y es que algo súper interesante en los looks monocromáticos es que como caballero puedes arriesgarte un poco más por ejemplo: en mi caso utilicé un pantalón con textura bien marcada, quizás este mismo pantalón en otro color hubiese sido un “BIG NO” pero el color negro le aporta el “toque” que nos convence, pequeños detalles en dorado y el resto de las piezas lisas complementarias para no cargar el outfit.

          No podía dejar ir esta oportunidad sin mencionarles que aunque mi estilo es más clásico y elegante, o sea más orientado a la estética londinense, NYC también tiene influencia en mi, sobre todo porque el hombre neoyorkino representa esa evolución de estilo que hemos tenido en los últimos tiempos, en el cual dentro de nuestra onda “Dapper” podemos irnos a lo minimalista y de vez en cuando pasar a lo Sporty chic ¿Por qué no?

Grey Issue: Good Girls Love Bad Boys

 

          I've always said the fashion is more than just a simple industry, it's a passion which reflects much of our dreams, much of what's happening around in the world today graphically influences what fashion gives us, when you find a person who loves the same thing you do...Then you know you're meant to be together.

          Winston and I share the same vision; the same passion and we have made this part of us. Something that brought us a great deal of attention was the fact that Pantone chose blue serenity and rose quartz for colors of 2016, under the justification of bringing peace and calm to a world where more and more things become grey….

          This time we were inspired by a monochromatic outfit with the colors the represent a balance between the storm and the calm, for an intermediate between war and paradise, we decided to add a touch of rose quartz to give it an air of hope, that symbolism of peace, which today lacks so much in the world.

          Although people see it a different way fashion is more socially sensitive than is believed, fashion is an indicator of modern society and believe it or not behind each of these pieces there is an undercurrent that reflects what we're living or how we're feeling at any given time.

Trends alert:

Here we use three major trends of Spring Summer 2016:

  1. Monochromatic: is a must of the season especially in grey, black, white and beige. The trick to using it correctly is to wear similar tones and never forget to give a splash of color with either lipstick for Women or a lapel pin for Men.
  2. Tights + Shoes: it’s a trend the originated from the street style and for those who reside in cold climates this allows us to look chic without sacrificing health.
  3. Bad Boy: It’s a masculine aesthetic that almost always appears for the fall/winter season but this time came for spring instead with some skull patches, leather details and remember the a dark foundation is the key to look like a bad guy but with good style.

          Every outfit you wear should tell a story, your mood of the day or just your evolution as a person. The secret to look really radiant, it's a rare chemistry that goes beyond just buying nice clothes and posing for photos, each style should be like a book that tells us a different story on each page.

          Siempre he dicho que la moda es más que una simple industria, es una pasión donde se ven reflejada gran parte de nuestros sueños, gran parte de lo que está ocurriendo en el mundo se describe gráficamente con lo que la moda nos da, cuando encuentras a una persona que ama lo mismo que tú... Entonces sabes que están destinados a estar juntos por siempre. 

          Winston y yo compartimos una misma visión, una misma pasión y hemos hecho de esto parte de nosotros, algo que nos llamó muchísimo la atención fue el hecho de que Pantone eligiera el serenity blue y el rosa cuarzo como colores del año bajo la justificación de traer paz y calma a un mundo donde cada vez las cosas se vuelven más gris... 

          Nos inspiramos en un Outfit monocromático con este color que representa un balance entre la tormenta y la calma, un intermedio entre la guerra y el paraíso, decidimos añadir un toque de rosa cuarzo para dar ese aire de esperanza, esa simbología de paz que hace tanta falta al mundo. 

          A pesar de que la gente lo ve así la moda es más sensible socialmente de lo que se cree, la moda es un indicador de la sociedad moderna y aunque no lo crean detrás de cada una de estas piezas hay un trasfondo que refleja lo que estamos viviendo o sintiendo en un momento determinado.

Trends alert: 

Aquí utilizamos tres grandes tendencias de Spring Summer 2016: 

  1. Monocromático: es un must de la temporada especialmente en gris, negro, blanco y beige. El truco para usarlo correctamente es llevar tonos bastante parecidos y nunca olvidar dar un splash de color con el labial o el complemento.
  2. Medias + zapatos: es una tendencia que vino desde el street style pero va a permanecer y es que para nosotras las que vivimos en climas fríos esto nos permite lucir chic pero sin sacrificar la salud, jaja este frío mata a cualquiera.
  3. Bad boy: es una estética masculina que casi siempre aparece para otoño invierno pero esta vez vino para primavera ciertos parches de calaveras, algunos detalles en leather y una base oscura es la clave para lucir como un chico malo pero con buen estilo. 

          Cada look que lleves debe de contar una historia, tú mood del día o simplemente tu evolución como persona, aquí está el secreto para lucir realmente radiante, es una rara química que va más allá de sólo colocarnos ropa bonita y posar, cada estilismo es como un libro que nos cuenta una historia diferente en cada página.

Evolution Of Style

 

           Yesterday, as Rox and I walked through the cosmopolitan streets of New York City running some errands and having some well-deserve leisure time, we came across my old school; Berkeley College, the educational institution that for several of my best college years taught me the technical side of my passion… Fashion. This occurrence brought many memories from that period of time, including how my own personal taste for fashion had evolved during my college years through now, then as usual I took that particular idea and decided to put together a look to define the notion of the evolution of my style…. I promise you will enjoy it.

          Parties, friends, occasional problems, students with grand visions of fashion and tough professors were some of the elements of student-life at Berkeley, while I was there, you could find everything from the punk girl, foreign students with deep pockets, aspiring fashion entrepreneurs like my self and so many others all trying to make something meaningful in the industry. At this type of schools there're always plenty choices of style to follow. However, I decided to go for what has been my particular taste since childhood; The classics, not a business uniform look or a casual young professor look either, that's not me...between one thing and another it was clear that my taste for fashion had to reflect the classics of the past yet look modern, witty and vibrantly stylish, for these reasons it was the Preppy Look for me.

          I believe in the idea that in order for one to understand something is always more prudent to read, learn, or understand its inception. The Preppy style was born in the most famous ivy league universities of the world mainly in the United States and England, where young higher socio-economic students had a kind of uniform, in fact the word Preppy is an Anglo-Saxon term that derives from prep-school. The basics of this style are straight cut pants, shirts, cool and warm colors, vests, ties and blazers. Modern brands such as Ralph Lauren, Burberry and Tommy Hilfiger have become the main representatives of this style and since an incline in the 2000s they’ve been unstoppable.

          On the other hand, not everything is rosy, those who started the Preppy style did it with a sense of classism and also sought to class-UNIFORM almost all young prospective student who try to enter their privileged institutions. These ideals have always caused me some discomfort and in the process have broken the scheme. In the mix of classic style and rebellions modern fashion behavior I substantiate my look today: Using a palate of warm colors, classic navy blue, gray, and hints of brown helped complete a modern dapper preppy look. Now in the process of staying away from simplicity, I opted for a paisley neck tie, a striped-mini dots dress shirts with a white collar and to be unusual, I chose a gray blazer in a was a soft polyester and viscose fabric instead of the wool/cotton sport coats. Finally and as always, I delicately adorned my blazer with a silk pocket-square to project a gentle yet masculine notion in the way I use accessories in my outfits.

Style Tips By Winston:

  1. This fashion thing is not to standardize, I suggest grabbing a style and making it your own. Remember the personal style is just like people, where it takes time to fully develop.
  2. Don't let anyone tell you that's wrong, or you're fine, just be you and project a particular style until you make it your label and your essence.
  3. During winter try using warm and cool colors with shades of gray, they don't always have to be paired with black...try it!!!!!!!

          Ayer Rox y yo andábamos en diligencias y un poco de ocio por New York, ya luego verán de que se trata esta vez, mientras caminábamos por las calles cosmopolita de la gran ciudad del mundo nos encontramos con mi vieja escuela Berkeley College en la cual pase gran parte de mi vida y mis mejores años, en ella aprendí la parte técnica de mi pasión… la moda. Como es normal vinieron muchos recuerdos de esa época, entre ellos recordé como ha venido evolucionando mi estilo desde entonces y esta mañana antes de regresarnos a casa decidí crear un outfit que representara la mezcla de lo que era yo en ese entonces y de lo que soy en estos momentos…Les aseguro se divertirán

          Fiestas, amigos y uno que otros problemitas, jóvenes con grandes visiones de moda y profesores con duras realidades para mostrarnos. Aquí encontrábamos de todo desde la chica punk que decidió irse por el estilismo hasta el que gastaba cientos de dólares en las tiendas y nada de atención en las clases en fin en este tipo de escuelas siempre hay mucha variedad de estilo pero yo desde que entre decidí irme por lo que ha sido mi gusto particular desde pequeño LO CLASICO, no buscaba verme como un profesor joven pero tampoco queria verme desenfadado, ese no soy yo… entre una cosa y otra ya lo tenia claro el Preppy Look era para mi; este estilo nace en las universidades mas famosas del mundo principalmente en USA e Inglaterra, donde los jóvenes de mayor clase económica tenían una especie de uniforme, de hecho la palabra Preppy es un termino anglosajón que proviene de preparatoria pero en fin, los basicos de este estilo son los pantalones de cortes recto, camisas a cuadros, colores fríos y cálidos, vest y blazer, marcas modernas como Ralph Lauren, Burberry y Tommy Hilfiger se han hecho los principales representantes de este estilo, su mayor auge en la actualidad inicio en el año 2000 y a partir de ahí ha sido imparable.

          Pero no todo es color de rosa, quienes iniciaron el estilo Preppy lo hicieron con sentido clasista y buscaban casi UNIFORMAR a todos los jóvenes que pretendieran entrar en el, esto siempre me causo cierta molestia y rompía un poco estos esquemas en esa mezcla de estilo clásico y rebeldía fundamente mi look de hoy: utilice una paleta de colores frios y clásicos azul marino, gris con un toque de caramelo en los complementos pero como no me iba a quedar en esa simplicidad la parte divertida la hize mezclando el estampado pasley de mi corbata y el mix print de rayas con mini puntos de mi clasica camisa de cuello blanco, otro punto que rompe lo usual en este estilo es la tela de mi blazer gris que con un toque de degradado y un poco de spandex se va mas a lo casual, algo que no puede faltar como siempre se los digo es mi pañuelo de seda para el bolsillo.

  1. Esto de la moda no es uniformarse, toma un estilo y aduéñate de el. Recuerda que al igual que las personas el estilo se va desarrollando
  2. No permitas que nadie te diga que estas mal, o que estas bien simplemente se tu y proyecta eso hasta convertirlo en tu sello, en tu esencia.
  3. Los colores fríos y calientes van super bien con las tonalidades grisáceas, pruébalo!

          We are just days way from starting a new year, In 2016 we expect considerable positive energy, as Men’s fashion is concern remember there are trends that keep coming back, as in the case of the velvet blazer: This fashion item which is the feature piece of this look is a classic for the new year festivities, the color and material that's made from makes this piece represent power, imperialism and royalty. Additionally, it was used for drapery and baroque furniture during the monarchy periods of history. 

           Within the masculine aesthetic there’s none more elegant than a velvet blazer, nowadays it has become an emblem of the modern gentleman. I honestly don’t think there is a New Years look that’s complete without it. For this look, I decided to accompany it with a white turtleneck sweater which goes perfect for this cold weather, paired with dress trousers in a grid pattern to balance the look and of course my favorite shoes in black suede.  Something that’s never missing is an accessory piece like the silk pocketsquae in my blazer; it’s a small but very personal detail that adds a touch of care in the general aesthetics of the modern dapper gentlemen. 

When buying a blazer take into account the following:

  1. The center button goes right in the middle of your abdomen; use this as guide when looking for your correct size.
  2. The sleeves must not bulge; if it does it wont look right and this might be perceived as carelessness.
  3. Beware of the shoulder pads; if your body type doesn’t need it opt for the one with a more relaxed cut.

           Estamos a tan solo días de iniciar un nuevo año, un 2016 que esperamos venga con muchas energías positivas, si de moda hablamos hay que recordar que existen tendencias que siempre regresan, tal es el caso del blazer velvet: es algo así como un clásico en año nuevo, El material y color del que está hecha esta pieza representa poder, imperialismo y a la realeza ya que era este el que se utilizaba para las prendas de vestir y muebles barrocos de la época donde la realeza tenía un poder total.

          Dentro de la estética masculina no existe una pieza más elegante que el blazer, en la actualidad se ha convertido en un emblema del caballero moderno. 

          Sinceramente no creo que haya un look de año nuevo que esté completo sin el, decidí  acompañarlo con un suéter blanco cuello de tortuga perfecto para este clima, pantalón en corte recto en estampado cuadriculado y por supuesto mi calzado favorito en suede negro, algo que jamás puede faltar en un outfit como este es el pañuelo de seda en el bolsillo de mi chaqueta, es un detalle pequeño pero muy personal que agrega un toque de cuidado en la estética general.

A la hora de comprar un blazer toma en cuenta que:

  • El botón central vaya justamente en el centro de tu abdomen, así te darás cuentas que es realmente tu talla.
  • Las mangas no deben abultarse, esto hace ver un poco de descuido.
  • Cuidado con las hombreras, si tú tipo de cuerpo no las necesita opta por uno con un corte más relajado.

          Esta es la época más bella de todo el año, pero también es la más caótica; las calles son intransitables y los mall son toda una travesía; si a eso le sumamos nuestras responsabilidades diarias créanme que el resultado es un tanto complicado, todo esto nos lleva muchas veces a descuidar un tema que nos atormenta año tras año: outfits for Xmas!

          Si te sientes identificada y en víspera de estas festividades aún no sabes que ponerte; tranquila, hoy te ayudaré a hacerla elección correcta, te dejo la siguiente recomendaciones, toma nota:

  1. ¿Qué harás? Algunos nos quedamos en casa con la familia, otros vamos a casa de los suegros, reunión con los amigos, en fin... aunque no lo creas esto es un gran determinante  para lo que usaras en esta fecha, toma en cuenta el lugar y la hora de tu evento, las personas que asistirán y el código de vestimenta, este último es súper importante siempre, pero siempre toma en cuenta que vestimenta requiere el lugar donde estarás y es que una cena en casa no es igual que una cena en casa de los suegros.
  2. Colores: el rojo, el verde, el dorado y el plateado son los clásicos de estas fechas, sin embargo existen muchas tonalidades por las que puedes optar sino quieres caer en lo mismo de años pasados, puedes también incluir nuevos colores, por ejemplo el rosa pastel y el gris plomo son buenas opciones. Lo importante es crear un balance para no parecer arbolito de Navidad.
  3. Optimiza y simplifica: esto no es cuestión de complicarse, se trata de disfrutar el proceso, así que te recomiendo que busques en tu guardarropa antes de salir a las tiendas y si definitivamente “no tienes nada” entonces procura ir temprano,escoger un mall que no sea tan concurrido y visita las páginas online para que tengas las piezas ya definida, así podrás tomarlas, pasar a la caja y listo.

          Recuerda que aquí lo importante es que te descubras y proyectes a ti misma; estas fiestas siempre nos agregan un poco de estrés y eso no podemos negarlo sin embargo eso no debe de ser limitante para vernos fabulosas, aquí te dejo algunas propuestas algunas más clásica en cuanto a corte y colores, una que otra un tanto más arriesgada.

          Cada otoño invierno existen unas cuantas tendencias que se repiten, son clásicos propios de la temporada, las grandes firmas toman inspiración en ellos, los fashionistas desempolvamos y las tiendas fast Fashion crean “nuevas”colecciones. El animal print, la estética militar y los colores fríos son tan solo algunas de estas pero ¿Cómo usarlas sin parecer un TBT?

          Nosotros llegamos a la misma conclusión: el truco está en manejar bien las combinaciones, evitando caer en lo que se espera y es que existen combinaciones que pareciesen estar configuradas en nuestra mente y ahí es donde nos aburrimos de la ropa.

          En esta ocasión decidimos hacer el experimento con un color que hemos usado ya varias veces y que al elegirlo nuestro equipo dijo ¿De nuevo? Por supuesto hablamos del verde oliva, military green, verde militar o como lo quieras llamar, optamos por hacer una mezcla de este color tan opaco con uno un poco más femenino y suave: ROSA Pastel o Rosado vintage (me encanta, ustedes saben que estoy obsesionada con el rosado) y les confieso que el resultado me encanto, veamos:

          Rox: En mi caso agregué el toque rosa en los zapatos, military green en la falda línea A y en mi shoulder bag pero sin duda la gran protagonista aquí fue mi camisa blanca con bow negro al descuido que nos remonta a esa estética que salió de las oficinas y hoy en día se ha apoderado de las calles y las pasarelas, esta pieza representa parte del empoderamiento femenino sobre sus derechos igualitarios. La puedes usar en actividades formales pero también fuera de la oficina con un skinny jeans, stilettos metalizados y un moño al descuido  lograras un look súper chic.

          Winston: Blazer en verde oliva en una tonalidad clara, camisa rosada y pañuelo en Lunaresque armonizan con los tonos tierras del resto del outfit. Aquí entremezclo dos elementos clásicos: verde militar con tonos terracotas y Rosa pastel con azul marino, al unificar estos clásicos creamos un look moderno. ¡Los detalles son la clave!

Tres formas de usar tendencias que se repiten:

1 - Lee, mira e investiga cómo se usaban y como las están llevando ahora, haz una selección de lo que mejor vaya contigo agrega tu toque personal y listo. Nunca, nunca recrees looks exactos, nadie es igual a nadie y es nuestra labor demostrarlo.

2 - Que si Navidad es roja y primavera Flores, si cierto pero no te vayas a lo literal hay miles estampados florales y tonalidades de rojo ni te cuento, no optes por el común denominador, mira un poco más allá.

3 - Si eres un caballero y no eres tan dado a los estampados puedes añadirlo en detalles como las medias, el pañuelo, corbatín. ¡No te limites!

          Bueno espero hayan disfrutado este look tanto como nosotros, ya casi vienen las festividades y le traemos una que otra sorpresa.

           Every fall/winter season there are a few fashion trends that repeat themselves, these particular styles are classics of the season. Large fashion firms such as H&M and Zara usually incorporate them in their “new” collections; trend influencers (GlamDapper) get inspired and create looks based on them. These classics are: animal print, military aesthetics and cool colors. Now the trick is how to use them without looking like a “TBT” picture on Instagram.

          As the discussion about this topic continued, Winston and I came to the same conclusion: the trick is to manage well the combinations, avoid what is expected and the most important thing is not to follow a pre-configured look you had in mind because that’s when fashion gets boring, instead be spontaneous and create a fresh look that will make you feel and look great.

          In this occasion we decided to experiment with a trend/color that we have used several times. Military aesthetics (was feature in the “Hourglass” post a week ago) evokes a masculine notion. Furthermore, we also used a cool color as a shade of pastel pink, which implies beauty. These two elements represent a male/female unity or to be in accordance with modern times male/male or female/female. No matter the preference it shouldn’t dictate your fashion taste or attitude towards a trend or color.

          Rosanna chose to wear pastel pink for the shoes, military green for the skirt and shoulder bag. However, the main subtle attraction of this look would be the white shirt and skinny black scarf that carelessly takes us back to the aesthetic that emerged from offices of workingwoman after the Second World War, this trend is now taking over the streets and fashion runways. Equally important, is that this particular trend/piece is part of Women’s empowerment on their equal rights. It’s suggested that is used for formal events, office jobs and others casual activities that require slim jeans, stilettos and a bun to achieved a super chic look.

          Winston wore an olive green blazer inspired by military aesthetics, a pink dress shirt, which represents a sense of care, compassion, and love. A silk texture pocket square helped harmonized the earth tones of the total look. Here, the mix of two classic elements: military green and pastels unified well and created a modern dapper look. Three ways to use recurrent trends:

1 - Read, watch and investigate how they were used and how far they are carrying at the present moment, then after make a selection of what would better suit you and be ready to add your personal touch. Never re-create exact looks because no one is equal to anyone and it’s our job to prove it.

2 - If red is for Christmas and perhaps flowers for spring - yes perhaps, but it’s suggested that you don’t follow the common notion; there are literally thousands of prints and many shades of red. Long story short, don’t opt or the common denominator instead look a little further for something different.

3 - For the Gentlemen – If you aren’t keen of using prints on garments, try to include them in your socks, pocket squares or neckties.

          Hola queridos lectores, ya estamos de vuelta y en esta oportunidad le contamos que este texto lo creamos entre Winston y yo ¿Qué les parece?

          La pasada noche estuvimos conversando sobre los colores que eligió Pantone para el 2016 y en verdad nos parecieron súper interesantes ambos, pero hoy nos quisimos enfocar en tan solo uno de ellos, un color que visualmente crea una excelente armonía si de look monocromáticos hablamos y por supuesto hablamos del azul.

          Este color se caracteriza por tener gran variedad de tonalidades desde el navy blue que es uno de los más clásicos y utilizados en el mundo hasta el azul cobalto que fue el rey del otoño pasado. Este es un color que transmite seguridad, paz y madurez pero sí de moda hablamos es uno de esos colores que no importa la estación del año el siempre estará presente. Grandes firmas como Chlóe, Valentino y Gucci lo han mostrado en sus más recientes colecciones Y diseñadores como Jean Paul Gaultier lo tiene como su bandera oficial.

          Pero vamos a lo que vinimos: decidimos  armar estos looks con diferentes tonalidades y mezclando texturas, en mi caso me fui por un lady like moderno con aires de invierno, confieso que amé mi falda en leather en azul marino, opté por utilizarla con un suéter en serenity blue que evoca la época más fría del año y para darle el toque final un mini bolso en rosa cuarzo (este color será mi uniforme en 2016, lol) por supuesto mis divertidos pompones no podían quedarse los cuales matizan súper bien con los clásicos stilettos dorados.

          Winston siempre fiel a su estética mezcló tres tonos: baby blue, navy blue y serenity en su caso los complementos vinieron en un tono de marrón con fondo rojizo el cual hace un balance perfecto en el rejuego de tonalidades Frias. Detalles como pañuelo en seda bicolor y estampado ayudan a creer un total look bastante relajado pero sin perder lo elegante.

          Si decides utilizar uno de estos tonos de azules hay varios puntos que te recomendamos tomes en cuenta:

  • Procura que haya armonía entre el tono de azul y tu piel.
  • Recuerda que el azul marino transmite seguridad así que si asistirás a una   reunión importante este será perfecto.
  • No tengas miedo de los tonos pasteles; hoy en día tienes miles de posibilidades para mezclarlo desde otro color pastel hasta el gris plomo (se ve súper chic).

Pero lo más importante es que no olvides ser tú mismo y divertirte en el camino.

           Hello dear readers, we are back with an opportunity to share some fashion tips about one of the 2016 Pantone colors - Serenity. We hope you enjoy it and always welcome comments.

          Last night Winston and I talked about the colors chosen by Pantone for the year 2016 and indeed we found them both extremely interesting, but today we wanted to focus on just one of them, a color that visually creates an excellent harmony as a monochromatic look and yes we are speaking of blue.

          This color is characterized by a variety of shades from navy blue, which is one of the most classic and used in the world. Even the cobalt blue was King last fall. This is a color that conveys security, peace and maturity. In fashion the color blue always looks good no matter the season you wear it. Fashion firms such as Chloe, Valentino and Gucci have shown it in their latest collections and designers as Jean Paul Gaultier uses it like his official flag.

          Now let's talk about Serenity: We decided to put together these looks with different shades and a mixture of textures. In my case, I went for a modern winter breeze look. A leather skirt in true blue paired with a heavy sweater in Serenity blue that evokes the coldest time of year. To put the finishing touches I opted for a mini bag in Rose Quartz (this is the second color chosen by Pantone for 2016) with my funny pompoms of course and to finish really well a pair of classic stilettos.

          Winston as always true to his aesthetic mixed three colors: baby blue, navy blue and serenity. Accessories came in a shade of brown with reddish under tone for his shoes and belt, which makes a perfect balance in the interplay of cool colors during the fall. Details such as a silk ascot and bicolor pocket square helped create a quite relaxed look without losing its dapper elegance.

          If you decide to use one of these tones of blue there are several points that we recommend you take into account:

  • Make sure that there is harmony between the shade of blue and your skin tone.
  • Remember that navy blue transmits security so if you’re planning to attend an important meeting this will be perfect.
  • Don’t be afraid of pastel colors; today there’s many possibilities of mixing these together and we even suggest pairing it with shades of grey (looks super chic).

Most importantly, do not forget to be yourself and have fun along the way.

          Me fascina la idea de mezclar prints; esta técnica me parece súper interesante pues me permite crear armonías con mis elementos favoritos en cuanto a moda se refiere, pero bueno ese no es el tema...

          Hoy yo les quiero hablar específicamente de la figura Reloj de arena, si esa misma que vimos por allá en los años donde se utilizaban grandes vestidos y cinturillas súper ajustadas; sin embargo esto se ha ido modernizando sino me creen miren como Dior en 1950 trajo de nuevo esta figura pero menos barroca; esa figura caracterizó el estilo lady like de esta época, en la actualidad también estamos viendo esta figura que es considerada por los asesores de moda profesionales como aquella que tiene las medidas perfectas por ser totalmente proporcional y me es imposible hablar de esto sin mencionar a mi adorada casa de moda Balmain de las cual ya les había hablado y mencionado que dirige Olivier Rousteing el cual se ha dado a la tarea de reconstruir la silueta perfecta con grandes hombreras y anchos cinturones.

          En mi caso creé este total look basado en 3 tendencias del otoño: Army, animal print y por supuesto leather... Y como ustedes saben que me encanta dar un toque “divertido” jaja así le digo yo, agregué este clutch rojo vino que va en perfecta armonía con el parche de mi army skirt (trend alert: este efecto DIY con parches y tachas es un must de esta temporada, marcas como D&G lo han hecho presente en sus pasarelas).

          Retomando lo de esta silueta; Si buscas crear este efecto lo ideal es que tomes en cuenta primero tu tipo de cuerpo y segundo los elementos que utilizarás para lograrla, toma nota:

1. Cinturón ancho: es un must, increíble el cambio que da tu silueta y las piezas con este elemento (en mi foto pueden ver el efecto que logra)

2. Hombros: Esta figura se caracteriza por tener hombros rectos sin embargo nosotros en su mayoría tenemos los hombros en forma de 8 o sea, ovalados por lo que las hombreras nos ayudarán a vemos más simétricos.

3. Volumen: Esto es algo básico volumen arriba, volumen debajo prensar en el centro y voìla... Reloj de arena al instante.

4. Consejos: Recuerda utilizar ropa interior adecuada sino se armara un pequeño desastre, conoce tus límites y tus oportunidades.

          Bueno chicas espero hayan disfrutado este look tanto como yo, como siempre mi mayor consejo es que se arriesguen y ser diviertan mientras lo hacen.

        I love the idea of mixing prints, Its an interesting technique. This method allows me to create harmonies with my favorite elements when it comes to fashion. But hey that's not today's topic.     

          Today I want to talk about the hourglass fashion trend. Yes the same mystique figure seen in past years, where oversized clothing items were drape over figures and tied by belts to create the hourglass concept; this look is now being modernized by Balmain, one of my favorite fashion house. Oliver Rousteing, the creative director of Balmain has taken the task of creating the perfect silhouette by adding big shoulder pads and wide belts to his latest collections.  

          In my case I created this total look based on three autumn trends: Military, Animal Print and Leather. As you may know, I find it chic to give my outfits a special touch. For this look, I added the red clutch, which works in harmony with the military patch jacket (trend alert: this patched effect on fashion items will be a must next season, brands such as D&G are incorporating this technique in their collections).

          Going back to the silhouette, if you want to create this effect, I suggest to take into account your body type first and second the elements that you will use to achieve it. Here are some tips:

1. Wide Belt: A key piece that gives your body the hourglass silhouette and also works well with the elements (you can see that effect in my pictures).

2. Shoulders: Straight shoulders characterized this figure, however, we either have an 8 or oval shape. Then the shoulders pads help us seem more symmetrical.

3. Caution: Ladies remember to wear appropriate underwear to avoid a small disaster.

          Well ladies I hope you enjoyed this look as much as I did, my main advice is always to take some risks and have fun while doing it.

Taking Risks

 

          From my years of studying fashion I have always found really interesting how trends come and go, they're mixed and surround us, but something must be clear: Women are much more fortunate in that sense and if you don’t believe me just ask Roxy, but this does not mean that we have to limit ourselves, let's see:

          Last night as we left everything ready for these pictures, I concluded that there is often not a lack of supply of fashion for Men but fear to dare is what is holding us back, in this look I show how to take trends and adapted them to your own style.

          As a classic Man whom I always consider myself, I start by contrasting traditional shades such as the navy blue blazer and my dark brown pants, which are a foolproof formula for many occasions. And then after comes the trendy part, where I opted for a horizontal striped shirt in baby blue due to its popularity amongst Men fashion runways the last few seasons. In order to make your blazer stand out, use accessories that compliment your blazer such as a lapel pin, a pocket square or in my case be bold and wear both. I even suggest trying color shoes; for this outfit a pair of radiant orchid would finalize and make a statement that says I’m here. Don’t be afraid to mix trends and create your our own classic “Dapper Look”.

          My biggest advice to you is to learn to create a balance between those classic pieces and stir them evenly with what’s reflecting the fashion of the moment, remember there is no limit of colors, textures and styles!

           Desde mis años de estudios siempre me ha parecido súper interesante la forma en que las tendencias vienen y van, se mezclan y nos envuelven a nosotros, sin embargo algo hay que tener claro: las mujeres son mucho más afortunadas en ese sentido sino me creen pregúntenle a Roxy, pero esto no quiere decir que nosotros tengamos que limitarnos, veamos:

          La pasada noche mientras dejábamos todo listo para estas fotos, Llegue a la conclusión que muchas veces no existe una carencia de oferta para los hombres sino que el miedo a atrevernos es lo que nos frena, en este look les muestro cómo tomar tendencias adaptándolas a tu estilo.

          Como hombre clásico que me considero siempre inicio por esas tonalidades que contrasta, en este caso el Blue navy de mi blazer y el chocolate brown del pantalón, una fórmula infalible. Ya luego aquí viene la parte fashion, opté por una camisa a rayas en baby blue que ha sido uno de los colores más vistos en las últimas pasarelas y el resto de los complementos (zapatos y lapel pin) en una tonalidad orquídea radiante, entonces ¿Ven que no es tan difícil incluir las tendencias en nuestro estilo para lograr ese dapper look ?

          Mi mayor consejo para ustedes es que aprendan a crear un balance tomen aquellas cosas clásicas y mézclenla con lo que está reflejando la moda del momento, no hay límites de colores, texturas ni estilos!

Pink & Marsala

          ¿Alguien dijo rosado? Es que me encanta y no me canso de repetirlo, me parece unos de los colores más lindos en todas sus tonalidades, una combinación súper moderna y que me encanta es la que se da al mezclarlo con rojo.

          En este caso decidí retomar este look pero cambiándole un poco el estilo, algo más casual ripped jeans en light blue que hace un súper contraste con el vintage pink de mi suéter, un poco de textura no cae mal verdad? Bolso marsala y stilettos que siempre van bien con este tipo de jeans, no podía dejar pasar esta oportunidad para usar esta correa en animal print de leopardo. Se los confieso para mí esta combinación y el animal print de leopardo fueron creados el uno para el otro.

          Espero les haya gustado! Mi mayor consejo a la hora de crear un look como este es conocer los tonos que vas a mezclar, la ocasión y la temporada.

          Cada noviembre H&M realiza una colaboración con una casa de moda, diseñador o icono de moda. A principio de año todos recibimos la noticia de que en esta ocasión le tocaba el turno a Balmain famosa casa de moda que dirige Olivier Rousteing, más de una nos volvimos loca, i mean BALMAIN en nuestro closet, pareciese mentira, no?

          Les cuento mi travesía: para comenzar empecé a planificarme mentalmente para lo que venía, señores yo soy amante de los blazer como ya les he comentado y personalmente  adoro la forma en que Olivier está dirigiendo esta marca así que sabía que el 5 de noviembre las cosas se pondrían buena, llegó la madrugada del día 4:  tome mis leggins, mis tenis más cómodos y un cardigan para aguantar el frío. Señores fue una fila desde las 5:00 am y todo el mundo vuelto loco esperando que abrieran esas puertas. Déjenme contarle que cuando se dio apertura oficial nada más falto que nos lleváramos los maniquíes (cuantas cosas bellas) y luego de muchos empujones, hambre, frío y tira-jala por fin complete mi compra. Les confieso que me sentí en una película y cuando vi mis bolsas me sentía tal Carrie En Sex on the City.

          Personalmente la colección estuvo excelente; muy buena calidad textil, buena terminación y se nota la esencia del diseñador; obviamente la influencia Army se noto y la paleta de colores a la que nos tienen acostumbrado: negro,blanco, camel y verde olivo . Quede totalmente enamorada, no puedo negarlo quería llevármelo todo aunque no puedo quejarme lol.

          Aqui les dejo mi primer outfit con piezas de la colección; un clásico del Balmain  moderno donde la atención se centra en un cinturón metálico (que me encanta, me lo verán mucho) combinado con este blazer blanco con hombreras, simulando esa silueta reloj de arena características de los años 50, el resto de los elementos son complementarios más no neutrales, la mujer Balmain no es neutral y es mi parte favorita de todo esto.

Dominicana Moda 2015

          Soy de una tierra hermosa; llena de colores, celebraciones y gente muy hospitalaria, por otro lado soy amante de la moda; lo femenino, lo glam, la esencia del buen vestir... Pero cuando estas dos cosas se combinan, saben lo que pasa? Si, así mismo Dominicana Moda: evento celebrado en el hotel embajador en el centro de la ciudad de Santo Domingo, su última edición fue celebrada del 19 a 24 de Octubre y por supuesto yo no podía perdérmelo.

          Les cuento que me encanta ver el desarrollo de la moda en mi país y ver tanto talento, señores en RD hay talento para regalar... Tuve la oportunidad de visitar múltiples desfiles pero hoy les cuento de mis favoritos:

          Giannina Azar: con una inspiración bastante interesante en la antigua cultura maya y un estilismo a la par de cualquier pasarela internacional está diseñadora utilizo tejidos etnicos, colores brillantes y bases negras para deslumbrarnos, en lo personal me pareció súper interesante la propuesta a pesar de que no soy amante del estilo etnico ni tribal me atrevería a utilizar una de sus piezas.

          Moises Quesada: su inspiración se encuentra en un icono de estilo legendario la bella Maria Antonieta y su gloriosa pero desdichada vida, piezas con drapeados, transparencias y volúmenes observamos sobre la pasarela donde se mezclaba esencia clásica con la parte moderna al incluir el Denim y las vans en un mismo escenario. Por ser una colección más romántica me atrevería a decir que quiero toda la colección en mi closet, muy buena propuesta.

          Jusef Sanchez: una propuesta monocromática con fringe donde el Haute couture se vio marcado y los colores vivos y trasparencias fueron los protagonistas, volúmenes y texturas combinados con un estilismo fuerte que demostrada a esa mujer moderna que lucha sin perder una pizca de estilo.

          Bueno y algo que tampoco podía dejar de compartirles son mis tres outfit para este evento; ambos con esa esencia femenina moderna que me caracteriza y por supuesto un toque rosado no podía faltar jajaja.

El Arte De Mezclar Tendencias

          Existe la moda, luego vienen las tendencias y entonces llega el estilo personal, este último para mí es el más importante nenas; siempre he sido fiel creyente de que cuando tienes estilo tomas lo mejor de cada temporada y lo adaptas a ti, ya el resto es magia.

          Al visitar las galerías de arteurbano de Santo Domingo (En santa Bárbara, Zona colonial) tan coloridas y diversas como nuestra cultura me inspire para armar un look con cinco grandes tendencias de esta temporada: verde militar, animal print, leather, flecos y ante (Gamuza) ¡TODAS EN UN SOLO OUTFIT!

          No se los niego es una fórmula arriesgada pero con buenos resultados, si quieres probar esto de combinar varias tendencias te  cuento: el truco está en encontrar unión entre los elementos; que si el bolso va a juego con el cinturón o la falda y los zapatos forman una línea monocromática por ejemplo, sin olvidar jamás la importancia de los colores y sus tonalidades, en fin...una armonía visual es lo que buscamos. Armonía a la cual le di un toque divertido con pequeños detalles fucsia (soy loca con el rosado, ja ja).

Porque al final de esto se trata: inventar, reinventar y disfrutar el proceso.

Basicos Que Se Tiñen De Color

          Existen esas piezas que conocemos como “básicas” que siempre están presente sin importar la temporada, todos las  tenemos normalmente en blanco y negro, sin embargo me puse a pensar: ¿Qué pasaría si los básicos fueran más coloridos? No lo dudé mucho y decidí probar con las siguientes piezas:

          Falda tubo: Es un básico de todo guardarropa, en un principio asociado a las labores de oficina pero ya hoy en día es la pieza predilecta para crear un estilo femenino. Yo decidí utilizarla en un tono Orquídea Radiante (el cual fuese el color del año en 2014, según Pantone) es un tono súper brillante que contrasta muy bien con la familia de azules especialmente en tonos pasteles.

          T- blanco: no hay nada más básico tanto para hombres como para mujeres que el White T, la última temporada fue común verlo con frases en el street Style internacional, este me encanto porque dice “Fashion blogger Full time” y es cierto, jaja esto más que un oficio es un estilo de vida.

          Blazer: Okey, aquí se pararon las aguas los blazers y yo somos uno, estoy convencida de que cualquier outfit se ve perfectamente complementado con esta pieza y en este caso quise darle protagonismo utilizándolo en un tono Baby blue el cual se vio mucho en las últimas colecciones de marcas como: Gucci y Prada. OJO: este tono de azul será un must.

          Aquí ven el resultado ¿Que les pareció? En este look muestro lo efectivo de jugar con las combinaciones de colores, cualquier pieza común da un giro de 190 grados con tan solo añadir un splash de color.
