New York, New York – the city the never sleeps, the big apple and the concrete jungle are some of the nicknames associated with the city of the world. Many say if you can make it here you can make it any where. In between these tall buildings, you can find famous boutiques shops, interesting tourists’ attractions and unique restaurants. But of course, we Glam + Dapper are Fashionistas – purveyors of taste, so it’s only right we mention New York Fashion Week (NYFW), the annual event the brings together fashionistas, bloggers and designers. During NYFW If you take a stroll around the streets of New York, you find many different/unique styles from locals and foreigners. This city has an influence in all of us, weather it’s by culture, architecture or it's vibe, we all take a bite from her and somehow in the process create our own distinct brand.
Well, that was a short introduction for our inspiration of today’s looks. As seen in the photos we were partly influenced by dark hues and monochromatic aesthetics. The inspiration came about, after the realization the New Yorkers tend to wear essentially all dark/black attires during the winter months, these effectively trickles down from wall street suits to street style urban outfits. To that end, and with that notion in mind, we remained true to the essence of the city and developed our own monochromatic dark ensembles paying homage to New Yorkers and their city.
Rosanna: Here the prefer color was pink...just kidding I like black because it transmits the elegance a lady must always show. I opted for a leather pencil skirt (a must of the season), black tall boots, black turtleneck sweater, and to make a statement…an over the shoulder fur accessory to compliment the look. #trend alert, red lipstick is a must when wearing dark monochromatic looks especially in all black, it gives a touch of sexiness and glamour.
Tips for Ladies: if you decide to mix texture with accessories such as a hand bag, it’s suggested you go for a minimalist hairstyle.
Winston: Yes, all black everything, an interesting part about monochromatic looks is the men have more wiggle room and could take more chances than women. For instance, we wear a one color suit and even match it with a similar color tie…but enough with the Dapper in me…this look is about the essence of an all dark outfit casually elegant. In my outfit, I choose damask slim cut pants, black high neck sweater, velvet black dress slippers and an wool over coat with gold bottoms.
Tips for Gentlemen: if you have an old over coat or a blazer that you feel you have worn too many times, simply change the bottoms and it’ll give it new life.
I couldn’t leave without saying a few more words, without any arrogance, I believe my style is classic and elegant, in other words oriented by British aesthetics, however, I must convey how New York fashion has influenced me and how menswear has evolved during the last decade. In between waves of proper gentleman attire “Dapper”, minimalist clothing and leisure sporty gear we can find comfort by mixing and matching different styles. The beauty of this city is the is has so many fashionable vibes, we can call it fashion’s modern pendulum swing.

New York, New York la ciudad que nunca duerme casa de la gran manzana, de famosas boutiques y de interesantes puntos turísticos es la gran ciudad del mundo, y claro de la MODA aquí celebramos NYFW evento que anualmente es el punto de encuentro de todos los fashionistas, bloggers y diseñadores, no tan solo esto sino que NY es una de las locaciones favoritas para descubrir y retratar el mejor Street Style del mundo, sabemos que el más famoso trend hunter; Bill C. Esta totalmente de acuerdo con nosotros.
Pero bueno, eso era tan solo una breve introducción para hablar de nuestra inspiración de hoy, como ya abran notado nos inspiramos en el estilo neoyorkino mezclándolo con nuestros estilos personales, la inspiración nos vino caminando y notamos algo curioso, que ya sabíamos pero hasta hoy notamos: TODOS aquí visten de negro, en esta gran ciudad encuentras todos los estilos desde el más glam hasta el urbano pero algo puedes tener seguro el negro está presente en gran parte de su guardarropa y si hablamos de invierno pues aún más, tomamos notas de esto y al ver que los looks monocromáticos serán un #Must decidimos armar nuestro propio NYC look, aquí se lo dejamos:
Rosanna: Yo quería rosado... Es broma me encanta el negro, transmite esa elegancia que debe mostrar una lady, opté por una falda tubo en leather (Must de la temporada), botas altas y top básico cuello tortuga, pero obvio esto no acaba ahí encontré este accesorio en tela de peluche, el cual cariñosamente llamé “puffy” jaja, me pareció interesante por la textura que tiene y ojo chicas: es un #TrendAlert, labial rojo infaltable en un look monocromático, especialmente si es negro.
Tips: Recuerde si utilizan mezcla de textura y complementos llamativos es viable que se vayan por un peinado súper minimalista.
Winston: Yo sí quería mi “All Black look” y es que algo súper interesante en los looks monocromáticos es que como caballero puedes arriesgarte un poco más por ejemplo: en mi caso utilicé un pantalón con textura bien marcada, quizás este mismo pantalón en otro color hubiese sido un “BIG NO” pero el color negro le aporta el “toque” que nos convence, pequeños detalles en dorado y el resto de las piezas lisas complementarias para no cargar el outfit.
No podía dejar ir esta oportunidad sin mencionarles que aunque mi estilo es más clásico y elegante, o sea más orientado a la estética londinense, NYC también tiene influencia en mi, sobre todo porque el hombre neoyorkino representa esa evolución de estilo que hemos tenido en los últimos tiempos, en el cual dentro de nuestra onda “Dapper” podemos irnos a lo minimalista y de vez en cuando pasar a lo Sporty chic ¿Por qué no?
